eδ-rural sanitation

...designing ...building ...training ...maintaining

Water borne sanitation (flush toilet systems) for onsite sanitation combined with a recycling of water unit for subsurface irrigated gardening and waste recycling for nutrient addition to soils. This sanitation alternative is primarily used in areas with abundant water resources. It's total costs are in the vicinity of a conventional septic tank / underground drain system. The benefit is the environmental sound reuse of water.

Dry sanitation systems (compost toilet systems) for onsite sanitation and waste recycling for nutrient addition to soils. This sanitation alternative is primarily used in areas with scarce water resources and in-house maintenance skills. The benefit is the low cost and low maintenance technology with sound environmental reuse of nutrients.

Dry sanitation systems (dehydration toilet systems) for onsite sanitation and subsequent dry waste incineration and ashes recycled back to soils. This sanitation alternative is primarily used in areas with scarce water resources and communal maintenance support structures (incinerators).

The sanitation options will be developed with our clients and stakeholders in a participatory process and modeled with the eσ-sustainability&viability barometer. The best solution suitable for the area in terms of ecological sustainability and economic viability will then be installed.
